A man in is accused of raping a woman at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, over the Fourth of July weekend, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Eyvor Gomez, 49, was charged with Sexual Battery on Monday and was arrested and booked into an Orange County Jail, according to an arrest affidavit per ClickOrlando.com. The alleged assault occurred after Gomez approached the victim, who was having a drink at the bar of a restaurant in the resort. As the two were talking and the last call was announced, Gomez asked the woman if she wanted to move outside because he was carrying his own alcohol, according to the affidavit. Gomez also wanted to be away from the cameras, the report noted. Two San Francisco restaurants have plenty to celebrate after making The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 list . Atelier Crenn and Benu were listed among the top restaurants around the globe, and they also happened to be the only California dining destinations highlighted among a few other U.S. dining destinations. The annual award, which is technically a selection of the top 100 restaurants in the world, first revealed its top 51 to 100 ranking on Tuesday ahead of its top 1 to 50 businesses, which are set to be unveiled July 18. MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay — When Eduardo Rey celebrated his 69th birthday at home with 10 family members in Uruguay’s capital, he didn’t suspect it would start a mortal race to find medical care amid a surging pandemic Two days after the party, the farmer came down with a fever, was coughing and felt weak. At first he and his family thought nothing of it, but then a relative who had been at the party tested positive for the coronavirus. When Rey tested positive his family tried repeatedly to get help from a doctor on the public health care telephone, but they couldn’t get one to visit his home. His family eventually took him to a hospital themselves but they were told his lungs were badly damaged. On April 21, a month after his birthday, Rey died of respiratory insufficiency in an ICU in Montevideo, joining more than 3,000 people who have died of COVID-19 in Uruguay since March. Railway crossing under investigation in Missouri Amtrak crash
The four people who were killed in the Amtrak crash Monday in rural Missouri were identified Wednesday, days after the train crashed into a dump truck , derailing the entire train. Rochelle Cook, 57, and Kim Holsapple, 56, both of Desoto, Kan., and passengers on the train, were pronounced dead at the scene Monday, as was the dump truck’s driver, 53-year-old Billy Barton II, of Brookfield, Mo., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A third train passenger, Binh Pham, 82, of Kansas City, also died Monday, but after being transported to the University Hospital in Columbia, officials said. More than 150 other people, with injuries ranging from minor to severe, were taken for treatment to 10 different area hospitals, officials said. Pandemic-delayed World Games open in Birmingham a year late

(AP) — Delayed a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Games open Thursday in Alabama featuring more than 3,600 athletes participating in non-Olympic events including sumo wrestling, gymnastics, pickleball, martial arts and tug of war. The opening ceremony, set for Thursday night at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, includes performances by Nelly and the band Alabama. It will kick off 10 days of competition around the metro area in nearly 40 sports with participants from about 100 nations.
