'13 Reasons Why' removes suicide scene "13 Reasons Why" is removing a controversial suicide scene from the original series, Netflix announced Monday. ET reports show creator Brian Yorkey consulted with a medical expert and decided to edit out the moment where Hannah (played by Katherine Langford) takes her own life in season 1, prompting other characters to investigate the mysteries behind her death. Dan Reidenberg, a psychologist and the executive director of Suicide Awareness Voices of Education, and others warned Netflix the series could inspire teen suicide copycats.
