Wednesday, during an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) warned of the potential for future abuse regarding what was detailed in the report released Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz a day earlier.According to Grassley, if an FBI motivated by politics would spy on a presidential candidate and his campaign, it could open the door for the same implications for anybody else. “First of all, let me answer your first issue, will this be just Horowitz and nothing else?” Grassley said. “I can’t speak for Chairman [Lindsey] Graham, but I believe that he’s going to have several other hearings involving other people to get more of these facts out on the ground. Then in regard to Halper, or whether it was Papadopoulos or whether it was Carter Page or whoever you might say, always lower-level people that weren’t in the middle of the Trump campaign, but they were used as an … [Read more...] about Grassley on IG Findings: If FBI Could Violate Trump’s Constitutional Rights, It Could Happen to Anybody in America
Two leading Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee released a redacted top secret email Monday that Obama administration National Security Advisor Susan Rice appears to have sent herself just minutes after President Donald Trump took office. The email contains Rice’s impressions from a January 5, 2017 meeting on “Russian hacking during the 2016 presidential election” between then-President Barack Obama, then-FBI Director James Comey, and “intelligence community leadership.” According to Rice, President Obama and Comey had a “follow-on conversation” after the formal meeting during which Obama told Comey that “from a national security perspective” he wanted “to be sure that, as we engage with the incoming team, we are mindful to ascertain if there is any reason that we cannot share information fully as it relates to Russia.” President Obama then asked Comey to inform him of any changes that would affect how his White … [Read more...] about Declassified Susan Rice Email: Obama Contemplated Hiding Russia Intel from Incoming Trump Administration

The big news this week was the Supreme Court confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh on Saturday, a foregone conclusion after senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ) stated earlier in the week that they’d be voting for the Trump nominee despite the looming sexual-assault allegations against him—including from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who claims that Kavanaugh attempted to rape her at a house party when she was 15. “While many were concerned about how this decision would affect Christine Blasey Ford, who testified so bravely last week, the president, who had previously said that he found Ford ‘credible,’ made fun of her during a rally—and argued that everyone was forgetting the real victims in this process,” said John Oliver at the top of Sunday’s Last Week Tonight. Indeed, in the wake of the Kavanaugh allegations, President Trump called it “a very scary time for young men in America, when you can be guilty of something that … [Read more...] about John Oliver Unloads on Republicans, Fox News Over Kavanaugh-Soros Conspiracy
President Trump has nominated three California attorneys to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, including a San Diego federal prosecutor who could become the court’s first openly gay judge. Bumatay is on assignment in the Justice Department as a counselor to Attorney General Jeff Sessions. He is editor of a conservative legal journal at Harvard Law School and also worked in the Justice Department under President George W. Bush before becoming an assistant U.S. attorney in 2012.
