This is best light I have ever used. Well worth the purchase.
I only received the detector from the vine program. I leave this plugged into the wall in case we have a power outage, which I always hope that we don’t. It doubles as a hand held flashlight. The flashlight is nice and bright. The concept of this product is good, if you have a power outage, you have some lights in your house that will turn on instantly.
After Hurricane Irene last year, and previous good experiences with other Mr. Beams motion-activated lights, we decided to invest in this Mr. Beams ReadyBright Wireless Power Outtage System.
For those who already have other Mr. Beams motion activated products, this ReadyBright series uses the same super-bright LEDs and magnifying lens. The only difference is that this ReadyBright system does not not contain a motion-activated sensor but instead has a remote sensor. Both the ReadyBright and the original motion-activated will only turn on in the dark.
The main difference between the two is that when the power goes out unexpectedly, this particular unit sends a wireless signal to the other Mr. Beams ReadyBright series lights in your house to turn themselves on. This base unit also doubles as a remote control to individually activate/deactivate individual ReadyBright series lights that it is directly pointed at. This is great if you are awake and are at home. The main problem with this feature is that it will run the battery down from the lights being on continuously all night if you are not at home to switch off the ones you don’t need. So if you will be away from home on vacation or for other long periods of time, it’s best to unplug and deactivate this \\”base unit\\” as it is the one that automatically sends the remote signal to the other ReadyBright series lights.
In contrast, the regular Mr. Beams motion-activated lights will only turn themselves on if some moves in front of them in the dark.
Overall, we mainly plug in the ReadyBright base unit during hurricane season or if the weather is bad enough that a power outtage could be expected. During those times when there is a power outtage and we are home, this is an excellent system to have as it automatically lights up itself so that you can easily find it in the dark, as well as automatically sending a remote signal to other ReadyBright lights to turn themselves on.
This unit worked perfectly during Hurricane Sandy and in the snowstorm that followed as well. We use both this unit along with other ReadyBright lights and the original Mr. Beams motion activated lights both at home and in our RV.
Highly recommended./>

This is a handy little gadget for’ just in case’, if you do not have frequent power outages and a wonderful help, if your power does go out regularly. It makes me wish we had outlets near our stairwells as a safety measure.
When your power goes out, it immediately lights up which will allow you to walk around without stumbling or falling over things. As soon as you unplug it, it becomes a flashlight, which does have an off and on button. The plug will fold up into a space in the body of the light. It makes an adequate flashlight to get around. While it is plugged in and your power is functioning there is a small green light to let you know it is charging.
It’s a good item to keep one unhurt in power outages and helpful in those moments of sudden darkness.
Very useful product that every home should have.
Where I live, we have frequent power outages when it storms and we have designated spots in the house with flashlights and lamps and matches. However with an infant, when the power goes, it’s hard to navigate all of that.
This item works well because it lights up and you can go towards it, you can unplug it and use it as a flashlight to help you find your way in the dark- very handy if you have to navigate stairs.
Highly recommended!
We will be purchasing more detectors.
You really need to look at the other items offered by this company to get the most out of the idea, but still it is very useful for certain situations.
The electricity goes out a lot at my house– difference between a rural electric cooperative and a regular electric company I guess. Having stubbed my toe and tripped on dogs on more than one occasion when trying to find my way to the bathroom after the electricity has gone out yet again, I thought this would be a useful addition.
It’s about the size of an old computer mouse. It plugs directly into a wall socket. When the electricity goes off it comes on. I put it by my bed so 1) I can get around the bed room when the electricity has gone off and 2) I know where it is in case I need to unplug it and use it like a flashlight as I did the other day when I couldn’t remember where the flashlight had got to. The light is adequate.
I’m intrigued enough to plan on buying one of the whole house lighting set. I think this would also be a great help for security as well as prevent falls down the stairs in the dark.
Our electrical service is iffy enough that we’ve purchased two UPS devices and are looking at a third. At least once a week, we have a flicker. With winter winds, we usually have an outage.
These lights seemed like a great idea, particularly since they have a master controller and a variety of different functions. So we got one to see how they worked. No outages since then, which is rare.
However, the light does make a nice nightlight and it seems like it’s going to be fairly easy to use when a failure strikes. I am interested in the other types of lights in this series, particularly sanitizers for the bathroom.
My only gripe so far is the battery compartment. It’s going to be tough to change the batteries for me. May be as well for other people with poor vision.

Well, this came to me via Vine to review because I had been shopping for 120VAC or 12VAC outdoor lights, but alot of the MR Beams BATTERY powered products came into the list of stuff amazon spit out. Once I saw it was battery powered (2xAA or 3XAAA) I usually passed by the Mr Beams lights because I wanted an outdoor lighting system.
Because I browsed the Mr Beam products, This was listed on vine for my personal stuff.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT.
3 buttons. 1 turns all remote control (433.92 mhz) mr. beams lights on via radio (inside it has 3 2/3 length AAA nimh cells in a pack with a battery connector) – this happens when the a/c power fails.
CON : Not all mr. beams lights are RADIO remote – some just use a simple motion detector. It’s not clear if a particular light is remote or local control
PRO : There is an LED light out the top of the unit (not the red led that you see when it transmits) and operates off the same 3v, 300 mah nimh pack inside. This homing light gets you to the mr. beams, which automatically tells your radio controlled mr. beams lights to turn on before you get to it. That’s a nice networked feature.
PRO – you get two buttons – an ALL ON and ALL OFF button – the center button controls the built in LED
CON : the 433.92 Mhz frequency is used by several other remote control devices and some video transmitters.
The two polarized prongs (it occupies the top socket due to the polarized lefthand plug) flip out of the unit – it thus can be used as a lighting control and a simple 1 led flashlight in a power failure.
CON : The 1 LED is not very bright! and it won’t run long on the very tiny 2/3 AAA 3.6v nimh battery pack. I have power failure lights that run from 12 hours to 39 hours. I suspect a half hour is doing good with this. The white led flashlight faces verticle to hit the ceiling
PRO: At least it only uses one outlet – the bottom is free to be used for other things.
Con (sorta) – It can not be used as a night light – it will drain its battery.
The instructions are good, the screw to open the battery pack is not a machine thread but a self tapping thread into plastic, kinda cheap – and if it gets stripped you will have no way to hold on the battery cover on the back.
This is a so-so item – it’s system is confusing as to what is radio controlled and what is not – overall not well designed, hence the 3/5 position.
NOTE: Amazon did NOT send me a corresponding LED stick-on light – perhaps if I had one I might change my overall rating, this is mostly a weak remote control with a single led on top and a very small battery.o be used for other things.

In our area it seems like our power fails every time the wind blows. While the powers that be work on solving that problem, it’s very wise to be ready for it to happen again. The first thing I notice in a power outage is, it’s dark! I love the idea that it comes on automatically when the power fails. This system is very simple to install. I will probably order another one or two.
I got his second remote unit to go with an existing standard home starter set. I wanted this one to go on another circuit and had no problem programming 2 different remotes to turn on their own individual emergency light. Just flip the tiny switch inside the battery compartment and you’re good to go. Don’t let the pics fool you, however; this is a very mediocre flashlight, in and of itself. Doesn’t light up very much or reach very far. But as an emergency light, or even visual power outage alert, this is pretty good. Only lights up though; no audible alert. But for my specific application in this instance, that turned out to be a good thing. Feels nice in the hand and seems like a good build while still remaining cool and trim looking. Nice overall.
This is an interesting and useful product. You put in the included battery pack and plug this device into an outlet, when there is a power outage, the light turns on automatically. This device is also a remote controller for other lights (sold separately). It seems to work well but I will have to test it out its longevity in an outage.
