Food Trade News market study says Redner’s Markets takes in $248.70 million in sales in its home base.
Redner’s Markets Inc. sits atop the $1.25 billion Berks County food and drug market according to a study published in June.
Food Trade News compiles a retail market study for 70 counties in the Mid-Atlantic region that analyzes food and drug sales. The 41st edition looked at sales from April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019.
According to the study, Maidencreek Township-based Redner’s, which has 11 stores in Berks, had sales of $248.70 million in Berks. In second place was Giant Food Stores LLC, which has six Berks stores, with $247.23 million. Walmart, which has five Berks stores, was in third place with $106.50 million. To be included, Food Trade News required the following: supermarkets had to operate at least two stores and convenience stores had to have at least 20 units and were not limited to the region.
Fuel sales are not included in the tallies.
