Nice attack mourners lay flowers outside French Consulate in NYC: ‘I’m sad to go back home’

French schoolteacher Christell Boisson, her Manhattan vacation suddenly an afterthought, fired off a flood of anxious texts to her friends back in Nice.

She didn’t learn until Friday morning they all survived the Bastille Day massacre that left 84 people dead after a holiday fireworks show.

“The city is in chaos, but they’re alive,” Boisson said. “It’s hard to be far away, even if you can’t do anything. To see pictures of your country and the streets you know, just thinking about the people who lost their lives there — it’s very sad.”

The 33-year-old Nice high school teacher was among those leaving bouquets of flowers Friday outside the French Consulate on the Upper East Side.

NYPD counterterrorism officers, accompanied by a bomb-sniffing dog, were dispatched to the building at E. 75th St. and Fifth Ave. for extra security.

Consulate flags were lowered to half-staff. Mayor de Blasio ordered all city flags in the five boroughs flown at half-staff through Tuesday.

From Friday night through Monday morning, City Hall will be lit up in the red, white and blue of the French flag.

A melancholy Gabriel Haddad interrupted his Manhattan vacation to drop off flowers outside the consulate.

The Paris resident and his girlfriend were about to see the Broadway show “Wicked” when word of the carnage reached the stunned couple by text message. The bouquet was their show of solidarity.

“I’m sad to go back home,” said Haddad, 28. “I’m sad that this can happen anywhere now at any time.”

Haddad was inside the French national stadium for a soccer match when terrorists struck Paris last November — an attack that left 130 people dead.

Tourist Riff Wright, 48, of Fort Worth, Tex., delivered his own flowers to the consulate after learning a Texas dad and his 11-year-old son were among those killed.

“We’re connected in the sense that we’re Texans,” said Wright. “It’s a new world we’re in. When you wake up these days, there’s always another one. We’re getting numb to it.”
